Black Walnut Board

Kathy Clarke

A board for cutting or serving, and just the right size for fresh baked bread. Unlike most cutting boards, the Maker cuts and carves each board from a single piece of Canadian hardwood; allowing them to last longer without warping or separation. The Maker hand-selects logs for their unique grain and pattern. Each log will produce 2-3 boards, each with its own unique wood grain. We love the look and function of the long, thin handles, and the leather tie for easy storage. Each board is created entirely by hand, and is finished with a food-safe, natural beeswax.

Measures 8" wide by 17" long, including handle.

Sourced from local Black Walnut, and made by hand in Bowen Island, British Columbia. Kathy Clarke is a passionate Maker who respects the tradition of a well-made craft. We love her work for its classic style, and appreciate her eye for pattern and detail.

Maintenance & Care

Wipe down or wash after use with luke warm water and a non-abrasive soap. Washing with hot water will strip the board of its beeswax finish. Disinfect when needed with vinegar and sea salt. If the board feels dry or begins to fade, use a dry cloth to apply a small coat of food-safe mineral oil or natural beeswax. If large scratches develop over time, lightly sand the board in the direction of the grain, and finish with a coat of food-safe mineral oil.
